About this Programme
All around the world, gender based discrimination and inequalities are rampant. Women specifically face abuse, violence and unequal treatment at the work place, at home and the larger community. Discrimination against women in employment is also frequent and has an impact on the kinds of work, careers and career advancement that women can expect.
Over the past 20 years or so, women all over the world have increased their participation in the labour market, but they occupy mainly less lucrative jobs, are paid less and have fewer opportunities for advancement. This has contributed to increased poverty among women.
NCT’s projects and programmes in the community tackle the issue of gender inequality and seeks to work closely with women rights groups to ensure the challenge of gender inequality is addressed effectively. NCT achieves this through:

  • Support to women and youth with regards to access to resources and opportunities
  • Gender based inequalities awareness
  • Empowering women self-help groups through capacity building.
  • Structured projects towards addressing economic status of women in the community
